A Full Plate: How I Manage Life’s Overflow Without Losing Myself
Life often feels like a buffet where we keep piling on responsibilities—work, family, self-care, dreams—until our plates are overflowing. If you’re like me, you have probably wondered, How do I keep it all together without burning out?
Spoiler alert: You don’t have to “do it all” perfectly, but you can find a rhythm that works for you. Today, I am sharing a few things that help me juggle my full plate without losing sight of myself.
1. Prioritizing What Matters Most
I learned this the hard way: not everything deserves space on your plate. Each day, I try to identify my top three priorities—the non-negotiables. For me, this could be spending quality time with my baby, finishing a work project, or simply carving out 15 minutes to scroll on social media.
Tip: Jot down your top three in a diary each morning. Don’t stress about it being fancy or expensive—any little notebook will do. It’s a small habit that helps you stay focused and clear-headed all day.
2. Embracing Imperfection
Here’s the truth: some days, the laundry piles up, deadlines get missed, or dinner isn’t Instagram-worthy. And that’s okay. I remind myself that perfection isn’t the goal—progress is.
Tip: When life feels messy, just remember: “Even chaos can be cozy with the right mindset.” Progress over perfection, always!
3. Finding Small Moments of Joy
Life isn’t just about big achievements. It’s also about the small wins: a good cup of tea, a walk with my baby, or a phone call with my siblings.
Tip: Keep a “joy journal” where you jot down one thing that made you smile each day. A “joy journal” is a fun way to notice the little things that make you happy each day, instead of stressing over not being productive. Plus, it’s awesome to look back on when you need a mood booster!
4. Asking for Help (and Accepting It!)
I used to think asking for help meant I wasn’t strong enough, and I always wanted to do everything on my own. Now, I see it as a sign of strength. Whether it’s leaning on my partner, family, or asking my sister to babysit for an hour—it makes a world of difference.
Tip: Don’t hesitate to ask for help—it’s not a sign of weakness, it’s just being smart! A little help goes a long way, whether it’s with chores or just a small break.
5. Creating Space for Myself
This is one of the hardest but most rewarding things for me—making time for myself. Whether it’s writing for this blog, giving my hair a deep conditioning treatment, or just sitting quietly, I have to do it, or else burnout will hit.
Just remember: Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish—it’s something you gotta do.
What’s On Your Plate?
We’re all managing full plates in our own ways, and I’d love to hear about yours. What helps you handle life’s challenges? How do you find joy in the chaos?

Until next time, remember: it’s not about how much is on your plate; it’s about savoring what matters most.
With love,
